CONSTRUCTION METHOD OF STACKING EARTH AND STONE IN JAPAN (PART 1) : “HANYA” WITH EARTH AND STONE MASONRY WALL IN THE VICINITY OF MIYOSHI AND SERA, HIROSHIMA PREFECTURE

In Hiroshima Prefecture, there are warehouse called “Hanya” which have earth and stone masonry walls used for the production storage of ash. this study, we investigated constitution use ash houses to clarify architectural characteristics Hanya. Sixty-five shacks were found mainly in Miyoshi City, most them along Mihara River Miwaka Town Aribara Town, Ueda Town.
